Meet the Team

A native of the Upstate, Dr. McNeely graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clemson University in Biological Sciences and received his doctorate with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. McNeely has completed an externship at the Birmingham VA hospital focusing on pathology and diabetic eye disease and has been on multiple mission trips to Central America providing eye care. He has also completed an externship at the Callahan Eye Foundation hospital specializing in low vision. Dr. McNeely has been practicing in the Upstate since 2007. He is an avid golfer, loves to fish, and enjoys cheering on his Clemson Tigers.

A native of Florence, Alabama, Dr. Johndra McNeely graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Alabama in Professional Biology. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 2009 where she graduated with honors and received the VSP Excellence in Primary Care Award for her graduating class. Dr. McNeely completed an externship at the Tuscaloosa VA hospital focusing on eye disease and primary care and she has been in practice in the Upstate since 2009. She is a Past-President of the SC Optometric Association. She was awarded the SC Young Optometrist of the Year in 2016 and the UAB School of Optometry Young Alumnus of the Year in 2019. Her special interests in optometry include diabetic eye disease and children’s vision. When not in the clinic, she enjoys hiking, birding, reading, Braves Baseball, and spending time with her dogs and cat.

A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Smith graduated from the University of South Carolina in Biological Sciences and received her doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Smith completed her residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham specializing in Family Practice Optometry and Urgent Care. She finds Urgent Care rewarding. In her free time, she enjoys cooking new recipes and spending time with her husband, Andrew, and dog, Toby.

Originally from Randolph, New Jersey, Dr. Lawton graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Biological Sciences and received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. Ryan completed an externship at the Charleston VA hospital focused in ocular disease and pathology, as well as a low vision externship at the Feinbloom Low Vision Center. In his free time, Dr. Lawton enjoys playing golf, hiking, and rock climbing.

A native of Greenville, Dr. Tucker succeeded his father in an Optometry practice that began in 1955. Tom graduated with High Honors from Clemson University in 1977. He then earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama/Birmingham in 1981. He has continued a successful practice in Greenville with an emphasis on glaucoma management, LASIK co-management, diabetic eye disease and specialty contact lenses. He and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for 35 years and have 3 married children and 4 grandchildren. They both enjoy hiking, riding local bike trails and Clemson Football! After serving the community for 40 years, Dr. Tucker retired June of 2021.
